Museums of Paris: Louvre Museum 

The Musée du Louvre is recognized one of the most famous museums in the world. Surely it is the first museum to visit in Paris.

The Louvre exhibits very large collections of art, paintings, antiquities, sculptures, objects and drawings.

How to discover the museum without getting lost?

It's huge! First take a map of the museum at the entrance. If it's your first time, select most famous things to see at the Louvre.

There are 3 sections in the Louvre, the Richelieu, the Denon and the Sully wings. The Richelieu wing is about French, German and Dutch paintings. The Denon wing is dedicated to the Italian Renaissance. But where to find La Joconde the Mona Lisa in the Louvre?

The Mona Lisa is in the Denon wing, on the first floor (room called salle de la Joconde), salle 6.

The Sully wing is for classical antiquity, Greek statues, Venus de Milo, Roman mosaics and Egyptian Mummies.

Where is situated the Louvre in Paris? The museum is on the right bank of the Seine river, besides the Tuileries garden, the place du Carroussel square and the street rue de Rivoli.

Musée D'Orsay 

Le Musée d'Orsay is near the Louvre Museum. The building was originally a train station in Paris. Don't miss the big clock outside. The Museum d'Orsay is one of the best museums of Paris to visit.

The museum has three floors. It contains the  largest collection of impressionism paintings. Locate the principal pieces inside the museum. The rooms on the side of the Seine River display most beautiful landscape paintings from Corot, Daubigny and Millet.

The impressionist landscape paintings are upstairs. Where you find Les Baigneuses from Renoir,  La Chambre from Van Gogh, Degas favorite little girls' painting Petite Danseuse de 14 ans,  Dejeuner sur l'herbe from Manet...

Musée Rodin 

The Rodin Museum is one of the most beautiful museums of Paris.

Did you know that the famous sculptor Rodin has been rejected three times to the Ecole des Beaux Arts?. To earn his life he made decorative stonework.

Rodin Statues are famous around the world. Visit the Rodin museum. The Hotel Biron is a building from the 18th century. Rodin lived here 10 years before his death. The formal garden displays a large collection of bronzes and fountains. There is also a little cafe in the garden.

Here you will find the true sculpture The Thinker, or Le Penseur. Other important statues in the garden include the Gates of Hell and Burghers of Calais, Balzac. Several pieces are made with the model and mistress Camille Claudel.

Indoor a huge variety of marbles. Most well known pieces are the Walking Man, the CathedralThe Kiss. He was inspired by the tragic story of Paolo and Francesca. A young woman who felt in love with his husband's brother.

Want to know more about Rodin? Visit the Villa des Brillants in Meudon where Rodin has worked from 1895. Meudon is a small city, 9.1 km  center of Paris.

Musée de l'Orangerie 

Musee de l'Orangerie in Paris

Le Musée de l'Orangerie is near the Louvre Museum. Find here the Monet's Water Lilies paintings. The gallery contains 8 big murals of the Water Lilies on the walls. And many other paintings of Monet. Also works from Renoir, Rousseau, Picasso, Matisse... One of the best museums for Impressionism lovers.

Claude Monet lived in Giverny (80 km from Paris) where he did his famous paintings of Water Lilies. You can visit his house and the amazing garden.

Musée du Quai Branly

Le Musée du Quai Branly is one of the museums of Paris that is next to the Eiffel Tower. It is the biggest museum for African art. The permanent collection displays objects, paintings, sculptures from Asia, Oceania, Africa and Americas. The emblem of the museum is a ceramic statue called The Chupicuaro. 

The building is exceptional with its green wall and with its inside garden. The restaurant "Les Ombres" offers views over the Eiffel Tower.
