Champs means fields. We celebrate here the New year, Bastille Day, and sports victories. The avenue is 1910 meters long between the Arc de Triomphe to Place de la Concorde.
It is considered one of the most beautiful avenues in the world. There are two sections: The lower section is from Place de la Concorde to the Rond Point des Champs Elysees. Quiet and tree-lined (Horse Chesnut Trees) alleyway was designed by the royal gardener Andre Le Notre in early 17th.
The upper section is going from the Rond Point to the Arc de Triomphe. It is busy area. The granite pavements were instigated by Jacques Chirac. Enjoy cafes, restaurants, theaters, boutiques in the area.
