Ethnic Quarter and Restaurants

The population of Paris is over 2 million on the Ile de France.

The metropolitan area has a population around 12 000 000.

That makes one of the most populated areas in all Europe.

Paris has few ethnic quarters: the Chinese, Indian, African, Greek and Arab. Go to visit them and discover the different cultures in Paris.

African Quarter

Called Little Africa or La Goutte d'Or located in the 18th arrondissement, between the boulevard Barbes and the street la Goutte d'or. Metro: Chateau Rouge. Shops and Market on rue Dejean products coming from the Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana...

Metro: Barbes. Small neighborhood of shops and the market of Barbes. The atmosphere is like Marrakech! The population of Paris has today Arabs, the largest ethnic minority in the country. Very nice building Institut du monde Arabe in the 5th arrondissement. Metro: Barbes-Rochechouart.

Restaurant de La Mosquée de Paris: 39 Rue Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire 5th arrondissement. Subway: Place Monge. Open 7 days a week, midday and evening. Food: brik (fried filled pastry) with egg tuna, tagines, couscous and oriental pastries, mint tea, maure coffee. Amazing decor.

Jewish Quarter

The population of Paris has a Jewish comunity in Le Marais 4th arrondissement. The rue des Rosiers in the Marais is mainly the center of the Jewish quarter. Not far the synagogue 10 rue Pavee.
